چکیده

We explore degrees of freedom (DoF) characterizations of partially connected wireless networks, especially cellular networks, with no channel state information at the transmitters. Specifically, we introduce three fundamental elements — aligned frequency reuse, wireless index coding and interference diversity — through a series of examples, focusing first on infinite regular arrays, then on finite clusters with arbitrary connectivity and message sets, and finally on heterogeneous settings with asymmetric multiple antenna configurations. Aligned frequency reuse refers to the optimality of orthogonal resource allocations in many cases, but according to unconventional reuse patterns that are guided by interference alignment principles. Wireless index coding highlights both the intimate connection between the index coding problem and cellular blind interference alignment, as well as the added complexity inherent to wireless settings. Interference diversity refers to the observation that in a wireless network each receiver experiences a different set of interferers, and depending on the actions of its own set of interferers, the interference-free signal space at each receiver fluctuates differently from other receivers, creating opportunities for robust applications of blind interference alignment principles. ar X iv :1 20 3. 23 84 v1 [ cs .I T ] 1 1 M ar 2 01 2

Co-Channel Interference in Cellular Mobile Radio Systems with Coded PSK and Diversity

In this paper, the performance of coding and diversity in narrowband wireless cellular systems aaected by fading, shadowing and co-channel interference is analyzed. We consider low-order diversity, that can be practically realized for both coherent and diierential phase shift keying. We assume that the shadowing random processes aaecting all transmitted signals do not vary appreciably over the ...

1 Adaptive Resource Allocation in Cooperative Cellular Networks

1.1 Introduction The cellular structure is a central concept in wireless network deployment. A wireless cellular network is comprised of base-stations geographically located at the centre of each cell serving users within its cell boundary. The assignment of users to base-stations depends on the relative channel propagation characteristics. As a mobile device can usually observe signals from mu...

Outage Performance of Cellular Networks for Wireless Communications

Cellular frequency reuse is known to be an efficient method to allow many wireless telephone subscribers to share the same frequency band. However, frequency reuse laeds to mutual interference among co-channel cells. We review the technique for computing and modelling link performance in cellular networks.

Inter-Cell Scheduling in a Cellular MIMO System

The capacity and robustness of cellular MIMO systems is very sensitive to other-cell interference, which will in practice necessitate network level interference reduction strategies [1]– [3]. As an alternative to traditional static frequency reuse patterns, we investigate inter-cell scheduling among neighboring base stations, where adjacent base stations and an (arbitrarily chosen) home base st...
